Our Heritage

Decades of devotion

The Craven family has provided proper goodbyes and priceless memories to families in Merseyside and North Cheshire since the early 1920s.

Craven_Liverpool

It all began a century ago when Walter Craven began arranging funerals from premises at Number Two, Broadgreen Road in Old Swan, Liverpool.

During the Second World War, Walter went to heroic lengths to ensure that funerals could take place, procuring wood, which was in short supply, from Scotland.

Since then, Craven has gone from strength to strength acquiring several local businesses, and establishing itself as the premiere choice when only the best will do.

Craven has remained a part of the community during its ups and downs, from the riots of the early 80s to the tragedy of Hillsborough when the company arranged many local funerals for the victims of that terrible day.

Today, Walter's great-grandson, Charles Craven, heads our dedicated team who have built a reputation for excellence from our premises in Lydiate, Tarbock, Hough Green and Toxteth.

As well as being recognised by the Funeral Planning Authority for the quality of our pre-payment plans, we have also won national awards for embalming skills.

And the journey continues...
